Winter Draws On - Call for Features

For the Team

While some masochists are still looking, Ged leaps in with a call for winter features. Regular message board correspondents are named in a flagrant attempt at press-ganging. A shame MTWD has no budget for beer and shillings. While some masochists are still looking, I thought I'd better leap in with a call for winter features

While some masochists are still looking, I thought I'd better leap in with a call for winter features.

In order to keep the site and message board alive, we need to publish at least once a fortnight, which in practice means about once every 10 days on average or 20+ features over the winter.

That's a lot of stuff and the usual suspects only have so many good ideas.

I am also keen to maintain a decent quality so that the site is actually attractive over the winter.

So here are some ideas - and yes, I'm even going to name names.

I'd be interested in features by supporters who support the club in unusual circumstances. For example:

¨      Jonathan Winsky on supporting the club from the confines of a Jewish Boarding School in Cheshire

¨      Nialler on supporting the club from Paris

¨      TOMB on the difficulties of supporting Middlesex while being a fire bug with a wooden leg.

That sort of thing.

Meanwhile, on the political stump, TavernUpper and other Committee aspirates can explain their ideas and prospective policies for the club, perhaps in the latter part of the winter as the elections get closer.

And those of a more pessimistic ilk who tend to naysay - why not write up your proposals and suggestions for making the club the way you want it to be - Freddie T, bubblesdog and/or TBE?

Those who have supported for a long long time can reflect on how they got hooked in the first place. Southgate Emerald and The Diamond spring to mind for this department. Or perhaps some people want to write personal accounts of their time supporting during the glory years. Haringey, JSRF, Janet or Benno perhaps.

And those who get to see some Second XI and/or youth cricket might provide write ups of those seasons and the emerging talent.

Estelle, lover and Blinglash are three examples of people who occasionally post on the board but clearly follow the team avidly. It would be nice to find out more about supporters like you through a winter feature.

Is anybody out there going to follow cricket avidly this winter? Live reports on our boys from India, Oz and/or the West indies would be most welcome. If not live, perhaps some brave soul or souls can describe their nocturnal existence and wrecked relationships.

We already have one or two competition ideas up our sleeves, but people particularly like those, so please come forward with ideas of that kind if you have them.

We have your e-mail addresses, so if you don't volunteer with something you fancy, you might get an e-knock on the e-door at any time of day or night with a "request" you might not like as much as your own ideas. Am I making myself clear?

So don't be shy - volunteer right now:

You know it makes sense.
