So.... I get home after a very long day to see the last 20 minutes of the FANTASTIC Spurs win and ..... get a text from Barmykev
'can you do a report on today's play please?' As he's asked so nicely how can I refuse, except I don't really know what has happened today! (Editors- note flattery will get me everywhere)
In one ear and out of the other springs to mind, but I'll give it a go.....
So... a nice little train trip to the south coast.... lovely!
A tip for anyone else going... if you need to get a train from Brighton to Hove they go from platform 1 or 2... I managed
to miss the first one! Then when I got to Hove I did as I think Diamond told us to do.... I saw an older man with a Waitrose carrier bag and a rucksack
Mmmm he's going to the match I thought... WRONG! led me in the completely wrong direction!!
Thank goodness to my satnav on the phone.... oh and the friendly postman.....
I sent Lower Pavilion a text message to find out where he is and he tells me he and his friends (Dan, Danny and Frank) are sat on the deck chairs....
There are so many of them! But I find them and take my seat about 11.30 (ish) and Sussex are already 2 wickets down! OMG! How did that happen? Well it was Timmy... Good boy!
I take my deck chair, the sun is fighting well with the big clouds and I decide to
a. take my coat off and
b. put some sun cream on!
Just as I do this I clouds start to roll in and it gets colder by the minute....
The iceman comes into bowl and as he's standing at the end of his run up Lower Pavilion calls out to us.... "Go on Bergy knock his stumps out" Isn't it nice when the boys do as they are told! He runs up and does exactly as he was told..... We jump up and down and whoop..... It was a very funny moment!
I have no idea what the score was at lunch...They were still in and but we were bowling well We just needed to get Prior out....
Lunch was taken in the local pub... thanks boys... It's highly recommended....
So.... Back to the cricket and that Prior he just wont go... no matter what our boys throw at him... And I have to say the boys done good with the bowling, they bowled as a tight unit, all playing their part. I think they did really well.
Tom Smith came in to bowl and must have had a few butterflies bowling his first ball. He did well... ending up with a wicket..... Oh it was sweet....
I have to say that Barmykev came in for some stick when Pedro got his 2 wickets.... needless to say he didn't answer my text i sent..... Maybe he was at work and couldn't answer....?
I'm sure even he would shrug his shoulders and say yep he bowled well.... Except Kev wasn't there so didn't see it..... ( Editors note- Yes I was at work distracted but was very pleased to hear about Pedro, nice to be proved wrong)
He bowled well...
I have to say having studied Timmy this season I saw a change in his bowling for the first games, and of course we know he was off par, getting better in the last game....
However I noticed that on his run up he was hunched over.... Strange I thought... Not been like that before.... Now I know why... He had a bit of an injury! A bit of a side strain, that's why he was stretching out after the Worcester game..... Yep, yep.... Murts was back at Hove.... and boy did he show it! Adda boy!!!
Now... Bergy.... He was just brilliant.... Wont say anymore.... Don't need to....
But I would like to mention OB and Dex... (Welcome back!) Although they didn't take any wickets, they were part of the bowling attack and rattled the batsman somewhat.....
Unfortunately we didn't manage to get Prior out, but he couldn't stand alone.... Congratulations to him on his 123 no out..... I suppose!!
So the Middle came out to bat and of course we whooped and cheered.... There was one Sussex fan who was particularly rude to us! We were all really shocked by his verbal abuse! Even the Sussex fans were shocked!
And there was another man who I must say had the hairiest nostrils I have ever seen! I couldn't stop looking at them, and he just wouldn't go away!! Wow he really needed nose clippers!!!
So..... Unfortunately... we lost 3 wickets I think to the weather..... Newman walked back upstairs asked what happened , I really don't think he saw the ball. The other guys.... I don't think they should have been out playing in the dark, but I think there was a change in the guys for this game....
I speak to Mark O'Neill and I pleased to say that he found his dog! For those who don't know his dog when walk about but was taken to the pound and they were reunited, bless....
I chat quite a lot with Mark, hes a nice man......
Anyway with the cricket over for the day I wander back towards the train station.... Have to wait ages for my train.... but all in all a good day for the Middle!!!
Can't go back to Hove and I'm sad about that as I think... hope.... pray we just might do this.... I'm off to do my sun dance....
