Despite less than 10 overs play Beefy Sausage still has plenty to report on regarding train journey, mainly regarding Kimmy's conversations with players and her hair and a cheap lunch. And a bit of cricket thrown in. Like Seaxe Man's journey a first class report.
Ken,Seaxe man and myself meet up at St Pancras station with Roy telling us he is sitting first class in the train,we say see you at Leicester station then. As Ken and myself get on the train,we decide to play stupid (yeah,i know, that's easy) and sit in another first class carriage, guard comes round, checks tickets and says nothing,so we just stay put.
Kimmy is on her way,we have arranged to meet at Leicester station, and she is texting weather report on her way, rain at Northampton, stopped at Rugby, will just have to cross fingers and things for today.
As we near Leicester, it looks damp out,and rain in on the windows, Ken saying its grim out,not looking good. after a short, but fairly cheap taxi ride to ground we walk in,to be greeted with covers on,rain still being dumped on ground, and about a dozen in with hope of some play.
Scottie Newman is seen outside,in Pro40 shirt,is it getting brighter? Not really just hoping i think.

This is shirt you should be wearing
Kimmy and myself take a walk round the ground between the showers(and heavier rain), and Bergie is leaning over the balcony,he says hi to us both,Kimmy mentions THAT video to him. Bergie has seen it, but Supr Ped hasn't yet so Bergie calls him too balcony for a chat, he comes downstairs gets told about it and says i must see it,after a chat,we shake hands,he goes back up,a few minutes later we hear cheering and laughter, were they watching it? Who knows?
The rain gets heavier again,Kimmy tells Dext she had her hair cut in his honour,he tells her he going to bring his clippers down and cut it to same length as his own!
We decide to visit the pub on the corner, and had a nice lunch, and half price as well so a bargain really. After this,we go back to see how much more rain has fallen, ground staff are trying to mop up some of it.
Mopping up at Grace Road
As we are in the bar,Kimmy sees Hoggie walk by and quickly gets her book out, after catching his eye (don't tell Bergie) she gets him to sign book ,and a photo is taken as well.

Hope the Ice Man doesn't see this.
The Umpires do a check and say at 3pm its the final check. Ain't looking good. They do the 3pm check, looking brighter, no rain, maybe,j ust maybe some play, they say we will do a check at 3.30 again,so looks hopeful that comes and goes, and another final inspection at 4pm,and..............at 4pm great news, play to start at 5pm. Worth waiting for,the ground staff work really hard (and well done to them for getting some play, cheers lads),. Both teams out warming up and the toss is at 4.30,Middx win and decide to bowl, good idea says Kimmy, the lads will be out and no more sitting around for them.
I get some cloths from behind the bar,dry the benches up,and we take our seats for 25 overs.1st over Murts from pavilion end and a head count of 19 watching play.2nd ball an appeal for LBW to Jefferson(who would make Finny look small!) not given, but Jefferson decided to go walkabout outside the crease and is run out its 0-1,Jefferson was not a happy bunny, walks into the dressing room and a couple of 4 letter words are shouted.
2nd over from the Bennet end,its IOB,not much happening and after 4 overs they are 4-1,we chat about the T20 coming up,Pinky the Panther is mentioned, now just WHO is it behind the mask we are asking? We also mention the Pantherettes Ken decides they are called the Pinkerettes, hmmm!
A wicket is taken by IOB,Nixon is caught by Simpson its 16-2,at this time I do another headcount as the crowd is getting bigger, now upto 31 in the ground. Score reaches 23-2 and bad light is offered. Players walk back in and Murts goes by,seeing the rope that rings the bell, he decides to ring it, was that last orders? Yep,sure was rain starts to fall once more, and umpires say that's all folks.
Kimmy notices one last thing,IOB has silk on the back of his trousers,so she asks why,he tells her it helps to slide on the grass.
We pack up,go to bus stop and start our journey home, cheerio, cherrio, cherrio at the station,Roy goes 1st class,Ken/myself cattle class and Kimmy goes her way home. Still and enjoyable day out, shame about the weather but that's the chance you take.
