While day 2 at Lords was not the most exciting one notable achievement was the Ice Man winning his well deserved county cap. Kimmy obviously was proud and excited. The only disappointment is she now has to think of another question for forum. On behalf of MTWD congratulations on your cap.

Congratulations to Gareth, been watching him play since 2004 at Campbell Pk for Northants through to present , good honest cricketer, well deserved cap and presumably pay rise.
Well done Iceman, well deserved, not only a very good player but a nice guy, I met him at the Sussex game last month and he was very nicely-spoken.
Gareth Berg has told the Hounslow Chronicle, Wembley Observer, Ealing Gazette, Uxbridge Gazette, Staines News, Fulham & Hammersmith Chronicle, Woking Informer and Surrey Herald that when he saw that someone was about to receive their cap on Saturday, he thought it would be Neil Dexter, although I am sure Dexter will be the dext player to be capped (particularly if he is seen as the dext in the line to captain the side).
The articles also talk about Berg's role in the side and he says that his job is to come in at number seven, when I know some people would prefer he bats higher up the order. If he was to bat higher then he wouldn't find himself in the 80's or 90's but then either being the not out batsman or having to play shots just to rotate the strike.
The club once actually capped five players in one go as Joe Dawes, Simon Cook, Ben Hutton, Chad Keegan and Ashley Noffke all received their cap from Alan Moss at lunch on day two of the County Championship match v Kent at Lord's in 2003, as depicted on the front cover of the 2003/04 Annual Review.
