comebackgatt reports from deepest Kent via sky text as Middlesex complete a fine victory over leaders Glamorgan. Report like the cricket, short.
Got back from giving my dog her walk along the seafront and park and settled down and opened the office at 10 am. Dealt with a few things and took some calls, then just before 11 turned on telly in corner of room and tuned it to sky text. I always find this easier to look at as you don’t have to wait for the pages to turn
200 – 4 overnight, Malan on 52 and Berg 11, 50 to win. Here goes.
Croft and Cosker open bowling as I expected. Steady start. Moved quite quickly onto 214. Feel confident about winning (although would have been mortified if we had lost this one even if it is The Middle we are talking about here). Work called and had to answer and make a few calls, client pay day on Thursday but decided that could wait until this afternoon. Another check on score and we have now made the highest total of the match, 234 – 4, Malan now a splendid 70 and The Iceman 26. Just 16 to win.
Harrison brought back into attack with new ball shortly due. Another phone call! Decided to let machine take anymore for time being. Back to the cricket
New ball taken, Harrison first bite, however AC hits his fourth ball to the boundary, 240-4, and just 10 to win. Malan 76, Iceman 26. Harris bowls next over, Berg takes a single and off the last ball Malan hits another four, just five to go. Harrison bowls a wide off his first ball, Berg takes one off his third, fourth a dot ball but next delivery Malan finds the rope again and we have WON!!!.253-4, Malan not out a splendid 84 and Berg not out 30, a 6 wicket victory.
Sums us up really we have now beaten both Sussex and Glamorgan away when those counties were top of the table. Next up Derbyshire, I shall be there on the first two days.
