Kimmy agreed to do the report for today's play, however she gets a little distracted......
So... After a report from a far yesterday (day 2) Today’s report is from the ground...
However when sitting with the likes of Diamond Barmy Kev and Kenpr there were too many distractions... The report kinda went out the window!!
I do know that I was late leaving my house and had to jog to the station station (the train coming in as I got to the top of the stairs!!)
Then there was a delay outside of Berkhamsted (power lines down!) and with my concerns passed to the conductor (Peter) between him and the driver got me to Milton Keynes smack on time... The only thing was my next train had pulled in the same time (I said it didn't leave for 6 minutes, Peter said straight away) so it was a sprint up the stairs, over the platform and down the other side.. 'HOLD ON' I shouted!! jumped on the train, only to sit for a further 5 minutes!!
Ho hum... I got to the ground eventually early, before any of the other ground.... It appears that Rogers had another hit to his hand and hurt another finger... he didn't field yesterday, but he is allowed to open for us... I think that's good news, as he knows this ground and should (hope) get a good score!)
So.. the other's join me and we're ready for the start of the game! Just as Kev receives a message that the board has come back up Simmo carries out a great stop to stop a ball going for 4! Well done Simmo...
Within a few balls, again Simmo steps well to his right to take the ball and carries out a lovely throw to Dex who is in the field!
WOW!!! Another GREAT take by Simmo, he really is on fire today!!
And I have to say a GREAT diving catch to the front of 3rd slip by Simmo to dismiss Hughes for 36...
Oh dear! And then the ball goes for 4 byes.... However Simmo would have needed to be about 15 foot tall to take it.... Ever Olli (who is a big lad!) couldn't get anywhere near it!
There is a lull in the game then.... nothing happens.... Nothing... at least we don't think so as all of us are too busy looking on our phones for the nearest supermarket so Kev can buy a bottle of wine (or 5!!) We sort out the place for him, the route and everything! And then he goes to the local shop!!
That's about lunch then, Kev is off in search of his wine, Ken and Diamond opt for the ground hospitality... Very nice it was too... Diamond has double sausage chips and beans while Ken had hamburger and double chips!! (don't ask, it was a mistake!) By all accounts it was very nice and less than £4 good value!!
So we resume after lunch on a score.. I have no idea!!
Simmo went on to make some fine catches and helped us to get the Derby team out!! He was vocal in the field and very encouraging!!
It was a spectacular catch he took off Rayner to dismiss Redfern... (who was on 49...)
But anyway Derby eventually were all out for 403..... Definately more than we wanted, but as the afternoon went on, the wicket was doing less and less... We didn't seem to become disheartened though.... This is the new Middlesex team!!
There were some strange people around though... someone started smashing the hoardings shouting out, until he was told to SIT DOWN which he did straight away!
Then it's our turn and we are far to busy discussing the pros and cons of the club, the sponsors and strange people at the club and the even stranger ones at Derby to write about what was happening....
Look on the internet if you want to know the scores!
So.... with five overs to go Dex shouts over to Kev and asks him to pad up just in case we need him... Luckily our two heroes at the crease stay there!! Housego for 20 Malan for 25... our total score 145
We leave Diamond and Ken at the ground (they are staying over!) and Kev and I wander to the station... When we get there Kev realises that his train is at the platform!! And sprints to get it....
I on the other hand am able to wander to my platform and sit on my train......
Great day, great company Oh and a bit of cricket thrown in too....
