Beefy reports from a wet and horrible down in Wales. We catch up with all the news off the field regarding other Middle fans that made the trip plus other bits and bobs, but sadly no cricket
Well,i had a nice early start catching my train to Reading, and caught the 0841 Vermin Express to Cardiff, with Seaxe Man also on board.
Kimmy and our latest recruit Spillage catch the train behind us(well, just about from what i understand). The masses are on the move, and all sorts of texts are sent to Diamond who is already in Cardiff, weather reports etc.
A text from LP tells me he is going tio drive to Cardiff, good news the more the better!
There is a slight change to the report today,as the train lands in Cardiff at 10.21 so will miss the start,a quick text to Diamond and he agrees to cover the first hour,Seaxe Man is doing to lunch, myself doing rest of the day.
Arrival at Cardiff, and its a bit damp out been dry right to Cardiff.
Myself ans Seaxe Man walk to SM's hotel,on Cathedrall Road, only to find he is staying in a pub, should of booked the same!Bags dropped and we walk to the ground in drizzle and grey clouds, meeting up with Diamond and our mate Welsh Dave, with whom Diamond is lodging with.
With the rain delay, the report changes back to myself covering the whole day, walking into the ground, things look grim to say the least, with a full compliment of covers on,and we learn its a mid-day inspection, there are no PA announcements, just word of mouth.
Mid-day inspection takes place, the umpires just stand at the doorway, look and go back in,oh well, that's that then, its lunch at 12.30.
Few covers are removed, then put back on,Struassy and Robbo walk round the covers,Gus has a good look and walks off with Richard scott.
We all decide to take lunch in local pub, sitting near windows to keep a check on the rainfall, and checking other scores on phones.
We return to the ground at 14.00 and see the wicket has been moved but with full covers on still, wicket moved nearer the 'Daffodil Stand',there are rumers going round that overnight strong winds had blown covers over,to allow rainfall onto the main square and the wicket,is that what everyone was looking at before lunch??
We take cover in the indoor nets and watch Simmo,Smudge and Ollie having a net, joined later with Bergie, couple of Glammy players in the other net,Ollie goes on a search to find out how to turn the lights on,Smudge opening cupboards looking for same switch, nobody could find it!
At 14.40,the PA declares game over for the day,so,we decide to take Welsh Daves offer up to visit a couple of lovely pubs in the city centre he knows, well ther is nothing else to do!
I go back to hotel,a quick shower and rejoin our party,SM has gone to his hotel to check in and chill out,he later decides to saty in his new local pub for a meakl and take an early night.
We chat about having an evening meal,Kimmy mentions going to Nandos for chicken etc, good idea we all say.As we are waiting for a table,a knock on the window to us and its Steve Crook with TRJ just leaving,we wave back to them.
After the meal,we all go our separate ways and to hotels, waiting with baited breath what Thursdays events will bring,we only want to watch the Cricket!!!!!
Hope you enjoy reading the brief details of a rainy day in Cardiff!
