The Mid season forum was a very quiet one by Middlesex standards.  Perhaps a reflection on our good start to season?  Panel was Gus, I Luv It and Vinny

The podium was bought forward to accomodate the anticipated smaller crowd. I Luv It tried to ask all attendees to move to front.

  •  A committee member commented on our fantastic start to seaon. But who are we maintaining for next year? Vague answer, no names mentioned. Well done Gus straight bat there.
  • I mentioned about our over rate issues and possible points deduction. Gus agreed added urgency needed in 1st innings and he feels same frustration as our fans.
  •  Fingers- mentioned about constantly 12th man running out with drinks for players.  Gus empathised. Would never happen in his day.
  • Malinga not here for 20/20, disappointing the deal was not finally agreed. We have tried many alternatives but viable ones not available or others not worth the investment . eg how would Tom Smith feel about being out of the side due to a an overseas spin replacement.
  •  From a question it transpired Eion not available for us for 20/20 .
  •  Question about Windies game on Wed. The squad was read out. Can't rememeber exact line up but from our bowling virtually our 2nd X1.  Interesting how Chris Gayle copes?
  •  Dingy Bags asked about our 2nd X1 development . Gus said we would prefer to use contracted players rather than accademy players. He wants players good enough to challenge for 1st X1 in our 2nd X1 unlike other counties.
  •  Radlett- is nearly there.  Potentially a fantastic asset.
  • Question was asked about Broad/ Anderson being dropped by England.  Gus gave a good a good answer but who cares this is Middlesex forum
  •  Surrey 20/20 at Oval clashes with test match at Lords - Sorry problem not ours.
  • Morgan proposals still a possibilty

Very few at Tavern for afters.   There was a quiet confidence about our progress, Shhh..

Why no Morgan for T20?

The reason why Eoin Morgan cannot play any Twenty20 matches for us is because in the period between Saturday and the end of the Twenty20 group stages, England have three ODIs and one Twenty20 international v West Indies, followed immediately by five ODIs v Australia. Between now and Saturday, England are unlikely to make anyone named in their limited-overs squad available for county cricket.

Well done Kev.

This is the middle forum of the three for the season. The one where the message from the top table is usually.

'Do Not Panic Let Us See What Happens.' Gloriously at this moment in time we have absolutely nothing to panic about.

Yes it was great to go to a forum with plenty of positive vibes. The general agreement was that the low turnout was down to the fact that lots of people come to a forum to moan and those people couldn't think of anything to moan about.

Plenty of full, straight answers from Gus. I got the strong impression that he sets a standard, in commitment, attitude and general behaviour, for the whole club.

Two years ago people on this board were calling for his head...

I am wandering why the Forums can't take place at the end of a day play of cricket when more of us are at the ground. Diffuicult to attend the forums with the cost of travel and being an hour each way

As I said this was the first forum I have missed in years.

For me it was not anything to do with how we are playing. I went to all the Forums last season when of course by and large we did very well.

I think like many people there were a number of reasons I did not attend.

Firstly the weather was terrible. Secondly there was no game at Lord's on the day. Thirdly there was quite an important football match and the only way to see that and attend the forum was watching it in The Tavern which I did not really fancy. Finally like others I intend weather permitting to come to Lord's wednesday thursday and sunday. I suppose something had to give and in this instance it had to be the forum.

Evidently the room is available Mondays and Fridays only. Friday is considered a difficult day to get everyone together.

I'm only here for the tele

Fridays are out for lets be honest "Religious reasons",the rest of the week barring Monday's the room the meeting is held in costs £6k to hire for the evening. Monday evening we as a club can use it at the behest of MCC at no cost so a no brainer not to hold it on a Monday really.
