Elegantly brilliant

The London Leprechaun was going to do a detailed report from the TV coverage of the 20/20 match against Kent. Sadly the computer ate the report before it got uploaded, so this report is like a highlights package. Short. To the Point. And a sweet  result 

Listening to Wimbledon on the way home I was fully expecting the usual falling of the plucky Brits but actually the plucky Brits were winning against the odds so maybe that was an omen for plucky Middlesex (with the plucky Irish) to stop losing matches they could have won and start winning against the odds.It was actually a great evening of TV after work. Stirlo was brutally brilliant, Joe Denly was elegantly brilliant; Moggy played a gem. The opening partnership was a Middlesex record and I have never seen 6 no balls from an accidental beamer before. We showed that you can start slowly and still score big. Kent bowlers lost the plot (Except Treadwell and Davies); their supporters did not applaud Stirlo – even the commentators noted that. When Kent batted the commentators bigged up Finny and Billings – both did very well, NorthEast was really good. I got a bit nervous at their opening partnership but Captain Marvel bowled beautifully. There were four wickets in four balls in two separate overs – (that is the nearest I have got to as a hat trick?) Toby Roland Jones nearly took a miracle catch. Joe Denly made up for dropping a sitter with a brilliant throw. The ground was very quiet by the end. Joe Denly was man of the match but was very gracious about Stirlo. Our net run rate does not seem to have improved. Dexy was very sensibly measured at the interview at the end of the match and Geraint Jones very complimentary about Middlesex. Oh and we won the toss (number five all season) and batted first. So we can set a target and defend. Let’s win a few more. (tosses and matches).

And finally Kent also seemed to be playing in pinkish. When the wicket keepers were standing up to the stumps that got a tad confusing.
