The  day started well.Decent weather a massive demand for a match report. So much so we had to divide it into 8 pieces with 10 over spells.  Luckily for Barmy Kev, as you will find out, he drew the 2nd innings overs 31-40.

Ist Innings Overs 1-10 Kimmy

Turn up at lovely quaint ground. Find Churchdown Tent and I started sampling local water. Phil The Power turns up with his daughter and continues family traditions by spilling her drink. A full pint of coke. Diamond already on 3rd pint of beer at 13:20, he has agreed to shave his tache off for charity. 10 off Hi Fi first over with a 6 hit as Kev was chanting " Finny's to good for you".   The Glous fans embark in some  chants.  We really need a wicket to shut them up.  3rd over is 18-0. Crook tries to catch one that is far too wide.  Beefy/ Diamond go for a wee and another beer and we get the breakthrough. Nicholl out great catch from Moggy when looked like going over his head. Hamish O'Marshall is next to go in 7th over simple catch to Berg off bowling TRJ. Dan Housego come out to bat to rapturous cheers from Middlesex faithful and chant of " You're Middlesex till you die".

Overs 11-20 Hackneyshire

Finn in for his 6th over. Ronnie takes the opportunity to go to the bar.   Hopeful call Howell is halfway down pitch goes back direct hit at stumps but Howell given not out. Dasher Denning has had enough and goes off to watch the Tour De France.  There's 3 off Crook's 1st over Berg takes over bowling in a criminal Harlequins top. Morgan is fielding on boundary and I ask him if he caught his train OK? No answer.  As Howell hits a 4. Lower Pav claims ball "nearly hits the stumps" when it is 3 foot wide.  Meanwhile Ronnie returns with a pint , but not his. This was left with cider dustbin Brendon and was consumed by him.  We have a runner amongst our ranks Dan Studley who can run 1500 meters in 3.46 mins. Kev challenges him to a race at the interval.  Doughnut suggests fried doughy ,sweet snacks will help. I'm not convinced. Magnificent moment as Howell hits a 6 over bowlers head,  TRJ makes superb effort as he flies over the boards with the ball. It is suggested if he is as tall as name, he would have caught it. Missed a bit as raffle on for Gloucs Academy Lower Pav thinks about entering changes his mind. 2 further fours by Housego as I hand over.with score 83-2 20 overs

Over 30. Stirlo. Dot, single. Housego lofts to long on out for 68 ct Bucko. 155-5, Then single, single, single.

Overs 31-40.  Was meant to be Dasher Denning, but he was still watching Tour de France.

Note pad handed to Hackneyshire who passes baton on to Geoff Pike a published Journo.
For over 31 as she was passing over with new boys at crease Hackneyshire commented Middlesex could do with more than one song.
Over 32. Glous impetus slowed by loss of 2 quick wickets. Potential total now not so good.
Over 33. 170-5. Few singles off over. Boundaries needed for a competitive score.
Over 34- Batsman try to move score along against Stirling's slow bowling. Last ball Cockbain blasts a six into the college stand.
Over 35-Batsmen open over with a flurry of boundaries off Berg's bowling. Return of Finn is imminent.
Hackneyshire back from toilet takes over. This is clear as editor is struggling to read notes.
Over 36  by TRJ 2nd ball smashed for 4 by Cockbain. Then bowled 202-6.
Over 37. The real Steve Finn is on.  The announcer got it wrong previous over.  Finn bowls Young.
Over 38. Jon Batty in, bowled TRJ 1. There's a wide followed by 4 singles 209-8
Over 39. 3 dot balls. 3 runs off it.
Over 40. Fuller run out killing my prospects of a jackpot for guessing correct score. Single needed of last ball to be nearest. Dot ball gutted. 214 -9 final score.

Middlesex Overs 1-10. Diamond ruled OK.
Were chasing not a lot. Housego fielding in front of us. Gets cheers from both sets of supporters.  As I go to toilet 3 4's are hit. 36-0 on return. From 9 overs 50-0. 52-0 from 10. Not much to report.

Middlesex Overs 11-20 Ken PR.
4 Middlesex fans wearing hard hats. 4 to Middle from Buck. Bowling change Nichol. Pistachio nuts going down well as Rogers hits another 4. 69-0 from 11.5. Kev wants Rogers to get a move on as says will go to bar once he gets 50. Glous fans now singing Middlesex songs. Pistachios are getting blown all over place. 100 up on 18 overs. 4 more to Rogers on 64, 4 more to Rogers on 72 , 4 more to Rogers 76. I hand over 125-0 carnage entails.

Middlesex Overs 21-30. Beefy.
It's Carnage.  Housego gets a good reception , but shook his head in our direction. Housego did some dodgy fielding to our cheers. " He's Middlesex till he dies".

We are 142-0 then 150 in no time and nobody realises or watching. A massive 6 by AC over bowlers head. We are dancing. It's now raining 6s. at 195-0 it's unreal . I'm too p*ssed to write anymore.

Overs 31 til end. Barmy Kev
We won.

Kev in mood for reporting

Hee hee,not just me thinking I'm still intoxicated from yesterday then. It's ok it's my bit (that's pants anyway) and Ken's that's missing.

Sort it out Kev!

This was a match that will probably live long in my memory, although I am reluctant to compare it to my visit to day four of Middlesex's County Championship match v Surrey at Guildford a year ago today. Like Guildford, Cheltenham is a ground that made an impression on me.

I'm hoping with tweaking have resolved hyrogliphics. Is it OK?

I can now read what happened in the first 20 overs of Middlesex's innings.

It must have been a great loss when the detail could not have been picked up.

For what it's worth Kev,sorted smiling smiley

Hopefully the reporting from Pink Panther town will be more detailed (and the cricket watching somewhat more sober).

Nice effort one and all though,it does make the day a lot more fun when the duty is split like that especially between both sets of supporters.

Well done everybody.

A great day out. Unfortunately I could not drink as I was driving, but I must say the food and the service in the tent was very good.
