I admit that I used the internet to answer many of the questions. The only answers I knew off the top of my head were to questions 12, 14, half of 17 and 21, although I had a good idea about questions 7, 9, 11, 18 and 26. The only questions I was completely unable to answer and therefore had to guess were 16, 24, 30 and 31.

Congratulations Middlesex Infinitum. If you want to warn me before the game your attending and make yourself known to me I'll provide you with a miniscule prize.

Oh well at least I didn't finish last.

Once again a massive thanks Darren for providing this quiz.

Two definite clusters in the results (internet-using and not?). I can confidently say I would have been struggling to get in the lower cluster!

That's why I didn't bother to enter, Adelaide. I, too, would have got about 7 or 8 without help, and we were asked to do it without googling.

It's a shame, because Darren had a put a lot of hard work in to it- but if it's not a level playing field, there's no point.

I knew I was nt going to win and ended up with 6 but enjoyed the challenge. Researching takes the fun out of it in my opinion but if that is how people want to play good luck to them.

I think there's a middle road when it comes to researching quizzes. It's certainly a lot easier using the internet than having to rely on reference books. Personally I get a lot of satisfaction out of tracking down an answer through reference books, which is a lot more time-consuming than simply Googling and often requires a lot more intuition.

I had intended trying to do the quiz using reference books, as I felt that Darren's quiz merited more than just trying guesswork. But when I sat down to start I realised that it was going to take a lot longer than I had thought, so in the end I decided just to use guesswork, if only to be on a level playing field with Barmy Kev. In the end I was happy to get 9 points: pleased at guessing Don Bennett as our last league footballer, mortified at forgetting Mike Brearley in the opening question, and frustrating at guessing Chad Keegan for one of the questions (but not the right one).

I would be happy to take a quiz under supervised exam conditions, but that would require getting everyone together in the same room at the same time, which would be difficult to arrange.

I'd be happy if people just followed the rule suggested in Kev's original post when he put Darren's excellent quiz up.

A serious lack of time over the "Holiday" period meant I didn't even attempt it so I needed neither google or reference books.

Some of the questions looked pretty fiendish though.
