Headless but with card

By Surrey Incast
May 5 2017

Our former Surrey Outcast is now an incast having sorted out his membership and so we get a sort of insider view of the RLODC match at the Oval. A bit like a series of radio reports it is certainly an alternative view and style. But we get a flavour of a match and prospects along the way as thingst fluctuated a bit; and we also get   snippets from the pavilion bar and some obscure references that some of you may understand. Enjoy

MIddlesex batting at the Hovel. Sorry Kia Oval with Nick Gubbins and Dawid Malan opening.7 off the first over from Curran T. In the Surrey 100 bar earlier which, for those who don't know or care, is dedicated to the Sorry players who got 100 100's in their careers, there is a picture of Mark Ramprakash batting in a Middlesex cap.

Poor shot by Adam Voges wafting at a shortish delivery and getting caught behind and the scores 71/3. Nick Gubbins going along steadily. Bit of spin on with Scott Borthwick on. Another non accademy chap.

Middlesex 243/9 off 50 overs. Probably 40 runs to few. Nuck Gubbins and John Simpson again the main run contributors to a below par score. But TRJ is on top form and Snane Rayner loves this ground more than Ringwood Boondoggle. Battle on to glory Middlesex.  Reckon they'll win by 20 runs.

2 wickets for an unplayable Dawid Malan. Two massive scalps one being Sangi . Murali Malan on fire and Shane Rayner tying them in knots at The Kevin Pietersen pavilion end. The yellow goblet glistens as Surrey , requiring 115 to win are 128/3.

Come on Middlesex .BATTLE.

Surrey cruised home in the end despite an unplayable spell from MuraliMalan. The trophy buying South Londoners won by 7 wickets with 4 overs to negotiate. Could have done with a Sam Robson spell of mystic proportions but the home side nervously reached the winning line. Had to abandon ship early and saw Surrey members nervously chain smoking and pacing the corridors like nervous fathers to be at a maternity wing. Well done Surrey on your win. I say that most sincerely.

Must admit to thinking 40 runs short myself at halfway.

A quick reappraisal. With the Mexicans knocking the runs off with 7 wickets and 28 balls to spare.

More like 60 runs short.
