Kev's upbeat MTWD parting shot as we learn of a New Boy on the block
I remember 20 years ago as if it was yesterday. Myself as an egg chaser was following Wasps Rugby team. I found a Sportnetwork connection aptly called Drunken Wasps. It was great to have this link with like-minded people and meet aliases on away trips. I was browsing and saw on their cricket area a link to a chat room dedicated to Middlesex CC.C. There were 4 regulars on the message board with the norm a two-day gap between messages. I eventually joined in and met the students who run this. They kept the site going by posting news articles in the days when immediate alerts weren’t available.
When they moved on Ged took over the reins. He was able to arrange regular live match reports and original articles throughout the year. Fifteen years ago, I offered to be his right hand man on a temporary basis. When Ged had enough I ran the show encouraging various moderators. Diamond (bless him) was perhaps not the best choice as he accidently deleted threads and enjoyed “throwing grenades,” I think I had more co moderators than Watford FC have had managers. Five years ago I was ready to jump ship, when we were saved by the London Leprechaun, who helped me as a safe pair of hands.
I now prefer WhatsApp groups, including with cricket for updates and meets. MTWD is relatively well behaved compared with other sites. However, regularly monitoring people’s behaviour, with a number of other personal priorities it has become a time to definitely take a back seat. This period lasted another year thanks to Fletch offering two players interview opportunities which was a dream We then had a supply of articles reports, but the cupboard is bare again .I’m delighted New Boy 2 has agreed to temporarily take over the moderating, hopefully with some help of others We have ideas for regular updates and for now MTWD has been given another life line
Personally, it has been mainly a pleasure with odd pressure as a contributor and moderator of MTWD. Most importantly, as I reflect on 20 years ago, I was Kevy no mates at cricket. I now have made many great friends, new acquaintances who have enhanced my cricket experience.
New Boy 2 good luck in this temporary role and be warned the first 10 years are the worse.

Normally I would write a bit about myself by way of an introduction as your new moderator.
But I'm going to save that as my first article in a fortnight's time...
(if I last that long - only joking...)
