Catching up with the latest scores in Division Two.

The rain had a significant say in the results this week, particularly in Middlesex’ favour!

Glamorgan might disagree, but the big game was at Lords where table-toppers Middlesex played some pundits’ favourites Nottinghamshire. The game was drawn, but I certainly don’t really know how!

Middlesex (11 pts) drew with Notts (15, 10, 11 pts)

Second-placed Glamorgan went to Chester-le-street, won the toss and put Durham in to bat. It didn’t really go to plan as England’s Captain Ben Stokes hit 82 off 110 balls to lead Durham to a first innings score of 311 all out. Glamorgan recovered from falling to 8 for 2 to put on a total of 365 runs with Joe Root’s brother Billy’s 88 being the top score. Matthew Potts? Yes, he took 4 for 61 from 20 overs, and Ben Raine had identical bowling figures. Starting 54 runs behind, Durham’s second innings total of 249 wasn’t really what they wanted, captain Scott Borthwick hitting 90 of those runs. So Glammy only needed 196 to win. That man Potts put paid to the visitors hopes with a laudable 7 wickets for 40 runs off 19 overs. Glamorgan lost two quick wickets for 15 runs and never really recovered: finishing 58 runs short on 137 all out. 

Durham (22 pts) beat Glamorgan (7 pts) by 58 runs

At the County Ground, Derbyshire won the toss and put visitors Worcestershire in to bat. Jack Haynes contributed 133 to Worcester’s total of 368, including a partnership of 187 with Azhar Ali for the third wicket. Sam Conners bagged 5 wickets in 31 overs, but at the cost of 109 runs. In reply, Shan Masood scored another century (113) and Anuj Dal scored an unbeaten 114 as Derbyshire declared at 565 for 8. Derbyshire’s Ryan Sidebottom was ruled out of the final day with a calf injury, and Worcester trundled to 225 for 2 off 101 overs, Jack Libby on 105 not out and the draw secured.

Derbyshire (14 pts) drew with Worcestershire (14 pts)

In the battle of the basement, Leicestershire drew with Sussex in a rain-interrupted match. Having won the toss, hosts Leicester managed a disappointing 210 all out, with none of their batters scoring more than 35. Tom Clark led Sussex to a healthy score of 450 all out with 138 runs off 262 balls. Scoring machine Cheteshwar Pujara was lbw Ben Mike for 3. Leicester managed to score 333 for 9 to save the game, including an impressive stand of 111 between Harry Swindells and Callum Parkinson for the eighth wicket. 

Leicestershire (11 pts) drew with Sussex (15 pts)

Shan Masood leads the runs scored table with 826, Matty Potts has 35 wickets with the next best being Sam Conners on 21.
