Not the most exciting week's cricket, although it started well for some teams.

Round 13

Leaders Nottinghamshire played host to bottom club Leicestershire at Trent Bridge.  What could possibly go wrong? Not much but it didn’t start that way. Leicestershire won the toss and fancied a bowl under the cloudy skies. They were immediately rewarded with two wickets in the first ten overs. Wickets kept tumbling with alarming frequency (for the home members anyway) and Notts finished the innings on 201. However, the Leicestershire batters fared even worse when they got to the middle. Sam Evans scored a half century, Extras offered 17 runs and nobody else got to double figures. Luke Fletcher took the first four wickets, the fourth with only 11 overs bowled and 32 on the scoreboard. Within 30 overs the innings was over, Leics only managing 93 runs all out. In Notts second innings, nobody scored fewer than 24 and the home side declared at 390 for 7, a lead of 498. It wasn’t required and despite better batting, and a 10th wicket partnership of 82, Leics ended their innings on 257. Notts strengthened their grip on top spot.

Nottinghamshire (20 pts) beat Leicestershire (3 pts) by 241 runs

In Cardiff, Glamorgan hosted Worcestershire and moved into second place with a fortuitous draw provided by the weather. Batting first, an unbeaten 172 for Gareth Roderick contributed to Worcs’ 454 for 9 declared. Joe Leach added 87 as part of an eight-wicket partnership of 167.In reply the home side managed 295 all out, Shubman Gill top-scoring with 92. Put into bat again, Glammy scored 5 runs in 9 balls before rain stopped play at 11:25 on the final day. No more play was possible, and a draw was the result.

Glamorgan (12 pts) drew with Worcestershire (14 pts)

At Derby, Durham won the toss and put the home side into bat. Derbyshire lost four wickets for 58 runs but then recovered, putting on almost 200 for the next two wickets. They were eventually bowled out for 306. Leus du Plooy top-scored with 82. Durham couldn’t match that score, bowled out for 223 with only opener Michael Jones’ 87 offering any resistance. Derby declared their second innings on 214 for 9, Ben Raine’s 5 for 43 off 22 overs being the pick of that innings’ stats. That set Durham 298 to win in 87 overs. Helped by a two-hour rain delay on the final afternoon, Durham managed to see out the total of 53 overs played, only losing five wickets with their 176 coming nowhere near the winning target.

Derbyshire (14 pts) drew with Durham (12 pts)
