Middlesex have secured promotion in the totesport League thanks to rain ending all hope of a positive result in the match at Headingley between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire. The draw means that whilst Durham, Leics, Sussex, Yorks and Notts can tie on points, we are promoted under ECB regulations
According to ECB regulations (page 12) regulations (I've only just realised this
), if sides are tied on points, positions are decided on the following:
1) Team with most wins
2) Run rate
3) Wickets taken
4) Drawing lots (Wouldn't it be nice if Surrey go down by this method?!)
We have won 11 matches,
Worcestershire - 9 with 4 left (38 points)
Durham - 8 with 2 left (36)
Leicestershire - 7 with 3 left (32)
Sussex - 7 with 3 left (32)
Yorkshire - 7 with 3 left (32)
Nottinghamshire - 6 with 4 left (32)
Therefore only Worcestershire and Notts can overtake us meaning we can, at worse finish third, SO YES WE ARE GOING UP!!!
