Middlesex made to work

Middlesex secured a superb maximum points victory, but were made to work hard by the Glamorgan tailenders. Resuming on 301-5, the hosts were eventually bowled out for 481, with Robert Croft (75) and Darren Thomas (47), putting on 80 for the seventh wicket. It left Middlesex requiring 84 to win and Strauss and Koenig took us to within three of the target before both falling to Dean Cosker.

Essex claimed a thrilling 3 wicket victory over Gloucestershire, and they move top, as Derbyshire are not in action this week. Middlesex’s win leaves them just 5.5 points behind Essex in second, but they have a game in hand. Middlesex remain the only unbeaten team in division 2.
