This year Middlesex have awarded Paul Weekes a benefit year. Weekes signed for Middlesex at the age of 18 and made his first team debut in 1990 at the age of 20 and in his first innings for the club he scored a fifty, a feat that Paul had previously achieved in his first 2nd eleven innings.

Before this season, Weekes had scored 7005 first class runs at an average of 32.58, including 11 centuries. He has also added a further two centuries to his collection this season. His top score came in 1996 when he hit 171 not out against Somerset at Uxbridge. He has also proved his worth with the ball taking over 200 first class wickets at an average of just under 40. His career best figures also came in 1996, when he took 8 for 39 against Glamorgan at Lords. Weekes has also played a part in one day cricket scoring over 4000 runs at 26.24 (including 3 centuries and a highest score of 143 not out) and taking over 200 wickets at just under 30.
