Hippity (Middlesex’s very own bunny) and Monkey-Face (a Yorkshire monkey) appear to have had a day-long row at Southgate.  Still bickering, they have co-operated over this very strange joint piece.  It’s hot!  It’s June!  It’s the silly season!  I guess we’ll have to roll with it.

Monkey Front

It was the Monkey wot done it!  That’s my opinion anyway.  When I posted my piece on your message board, suggesting that Ben Hutton was too scared to face Yorkshire, the Middlesex management had no choice.  They had to reverse the decision and play the boy to prove that he’s no wimp.  But Gillespie and Kruis will take the wind out of his sails, just wait and see. 

And a long wait it will be too, because the boy Ben can be counted on to lose the toss, so we’re batting and my money is on bed and breakfast for two of our middle-order boys.  And then maybe bed and breakfast Day 2/3 for Mr Gillespie who now specialises in batting overnight.

Well, I must admit I felt a bit nervous at 4/2 – more of a Middlesex score than a Yorkshire score in my book.  But Vaughan and Lumb soon bedded down for business as usual.  337/5 at stumps.  My 600 prediction might not be off the mark once our last 5 have scored as many as our first 5 – that’s the Middlesex way, isn’t it?  What a flatty.  We’ll probably return the compliment at Scarborough apart form the breeze  which might put your boys off.  Doesn’t take much to do that, this season, does it.

Momsicle and Popsicle say I’ve got more front than Scarborough, so I guess that’s enough from me for now.

Bunny Talks

That kid brother of mine really is the limit.  I think 337/5 is good stuff from the bowlers on a flat track.  Silverwood is my hero!  Bowled like a complete trooper.  He’d win a few matches at Headingley but he doesn’t play for Yorkshire no more so “ya boo sucks”.   Good to see Hutton and Compton bowl today, if only to appreciate their batting more.  Ben Hutton is my hero!  Nick Compton is my hero!  They’ll bat like gladiators.  Just you see.  Then Yorkshire will feel the pressure second dig.

Monkey’s Second Dig

More rabbit than Sainsburys, that brother of mine.  You know he says everything three times and that poor editor has to edit out 2 out of every 3 sentences.  Must be soul-destroying work for no pay, that.  Wouldn’t catch me doing it.  No, Middlesex are already out of this one, as far as I’m concerned.  Our bowlers will do more on this track and you’ll struggle to bowl us out twice even if you get some runs for a change.  12 points in the bag for us – probably 22.  Up yours, brother.

Bunny Business

I hope Ged edits my rude brother’s words into oblivion.  We don’t want that sort of talk on our wonderful web site.  Middlesex are well in this game and Yorkshire might get a bit of a shock.  It’s a bit like the Oval, Southgate, what seems like a decent score can rapidly disappear and come back to bite you.  Where the sun doesn’t shine.

I’ve also consulted my lucky leprechaun, Gnomic (see picture above) and he is very supportive of my view.   “Will Middlesex pull off a win here, Gnomic?” I asked.  “Now there’s a question”, said Gnomic.  Unequivocal optimism, I call that, so my bunny money is still on a Middlesex win.
