Young Iain Wardlaw's contract with Yorkshire has been abruptly terminated. There are no sinister reasons for this. Rather like the recently-departed Joe Sayers, Iain clearly feels that he has more to offer outside of cricket than trying to compete forlornly for a place in Yorkshire's first XV.
Iain played a lot of one-day matches in recent times, but there was no compelling evidence to suggest that he was going to be upgraded to the first-class four-day version. Everybody at Yorkshire will probably wish the Scottish Tyke a bright future back on civvy street. Au revoir.
