Here are all the County Championship fixtures and the Twenty20 final from Yorkshire's successful summer of 2012. 

2012: 2nd in League Two (promoted); (County champions: Warwickshire)

 

Yorkshire v Kent; 5-8 April; at Headingley

Kent first innings: 537 for 9 declared [Coles 103*, Key 97, Nash 67, Newman 64, Davies 58; Shahzad 3-86, Rashid 3-141]

Yorkshire first innings: 364 [Bairstow 107, Rashid 58; Shreck 4-90, Davies 3-48]

Yorkshire second innings: 146 for 4 [Root 76]

The hosts were required to follow on, and even by the end of this 'contest', they were still 27 runs in arrears.

Yorkshire v Essex; 19-22 April; at Headingley

Yorkshire first innings: 246 [Jaques 126; Mills 4-62, Masters 3-65]

Essex first innings: 199 [Bopara 117*; Sidebottom 5-30, Patterson 3-54]

Yorkshire second innings: 214 for 4 declared [Root 67]

Essex second innings: 26 for 2

No play was possible on the first day. Eight Essex batsmen were dismissed for single figure scores in their first innings.

Kent v Yorkshire; 26-29 April; at Canterbury

Yorkshire first innings: 247 [Coles 4-70]

Kent first innings: 350 for 9 [Nash 132*; Bresnan 3-89]

Only one over was possible on day one and day four was regrettably abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Yorkshire v Leicestershire; 2-5 May; at Scarborough

Yorkshire first innings: 447 [Bairstow 182, McGrath 90, Gale 80; White 5-90]

Leicestershire first innings: 116 [McGrath 4-21, Patterson 3-17]

Leicestershire second innings: 309 [Boyce 122, Cobb 69, White 67; Patterson 5-77]

On the final day the visitors collapsed from 282 for 5 when following on, just when they seemed likely to secure a draw.

YORKSHIRE WON BY AN INNINGS AND 22 RUNS; YORKSHIRE 23 points; Leicestershire 1 point

 

Gloucestershire v Yorkshire; 9-12 May; at Bristol

Gloucestershire first innings: 351 for 9 declared [Williamson 111, Dent 62; Bresnan 5-81, Patterson 4-77]

Yorkshire first innings: forfeited

Gloucestershire second innings: 48 for 0 declared

Yorkshire second innings: 402 for 6 [Jaques 160, Ballance 121*]

The visitors made history by chasing down 400 runs in their 'second' innings in this weather-interrupted encounter.

YORKSHIRE WON BY 4 WICKETS; Gloucestershire 4 points; YORKSHIRE 19 points

 

Yorkshire v Hampshire; 16-19 May; at Headingley

Hampshire first innings: 427 [Katich 196, Bates 103; Rashid 3-86, Patterson 3-87]

Yorkshire first innings: 399 for 9 declared [McGrath 106*, Jaques 93, Ballance 76; Dawson 3-61]

Hampshire second innings: 191 for 2 declared [Carberry 61*, Katich 61*]

In a weather-interrupted match, Australian Simon Katich accumulated 257 runs from 494 minutes and 356 deliveries.

Yorkshire v Northamptonshire; 30 May - 2 June; at Headingley

Northamptonshire first innings: 253 [Hall 79; Sidebottom 3-37, Patterson 3-61]

Yorkshire first innings: 416 [Root 125, Bairstow 68; Daggett 4-109]

Northamptonshire second innings: 250 for 6 [Wakely 66; Starc 3-50]

Only 45 overs were possible on the first two days. A lack of time may have prevented an eventual Yorkshire win.

Glamorgan v Yorkshire; 6-9 June; at Colwyn Bay

Glamorgan first innings: 117 for 3

Only 34 overs were possible in this match, with no play possible on days two, three, and four.

Hampshire v Yorkshire; 11-14 July; at Southampton

Yorkshire first innings: 350 for 9 declared [Root 222*; Tomlinson 4-80, Kabir Ali 3-88]

Hampshire first innings: 39 for 0

No play was possible on days one and four. Joe Root amassed his maiden double century, hitting 222 off 270 balls.

Derbyshire v Yorkshire; 18-21 July; at Chesterfield

Yorkshire first innings: 219 [Jaques 61; Durston 3-23, Groenewald 3-38, Turner 3-53]

Derbyshire first innings: 135 for 7 [Harmison 3-49]

There was no play on days two, three, and four which was a shame as Derbyshire were somewhat on the ropes.

Leicestershire v Yorkshire; 27-30 July; at Leicester

Leicestershire first innings: 320 [Boyce 107; Patterson 3-56]

Yorkshire first innings: 486 [Lyth 248*, Bairstow 118; Henderson 4-126, Buck 3-124]

Leicestershire second innings: 157 for 7 [Harmison 3-52]

Only 35 overs were completed on day four, thereby preventing a Lyth-inspired Yorkshire from a near-certain victory.

Northamptonshire v Yorkshire; 1-4 August; at Northampton

Yorkshire first innings: 249 [Jaques 75; Daggett 3-64]

Northamptonshire first innings: 352 [Peters 107, Willey 76; Rashid 5-105]

Yorkshire second innings: 74 for 3

Yorkshire's decision to bat first was not vindicated but they were saved by inclement weather on day four.

Yorkshire first innings: 420 [McGrath 104, Lyth 93, Ballance 79, Hodd 58; Durston 5-34]

Derbyshire second innings: 190 for 5 [Khawaja 110*]

Australian Usman Khawaja saved Derbyshire from defeat after they were reduced to 111-4 when they were following on.

Gloucestershire first innings: 215 [Patterson 3-35, Ashraf 3-44, Azeem Rafiq 3-85]

Yorkshire first innings: 61 for 2 declared

Gloucestershire second innings: 159 for 0 declared [Howell 83*, Nicol 75*]

Yorkshire second innings: 316 for 8 [Jaques 79, McGrath 76*]

In Gloucestershire's second innings, Andrew Gale bowled 5 overs for 71 and Adam Lyth bowled 5 overs for an absurd 88!

YORKSHIRE WON BY TWO WICKETS; YORKSHIRE 19 points; Gloucestershire 1 point

 

Yorkshire v Glamorgan; 4-7 September; at Headingley

Glamorgan first innings: 272 [Bragg 92; Patterson 4-49]

Yorkshire first innings: 344 [Lyth 95, Gale 55; Allenby 4-61, Glover 3-78, Wagg 3-87]

Glamorgan second innings: 182 [Patterson 4-47, Ashraf 3-42]

Yorkshire second innings: 111 for 2 [Lyth 50]

Eight wickets for Patterson, eight catches by Hodd, and two Lyth half centuries all contributed to this comfortable triumph.

YORKSHIRE WON BY EIGHT WICKETS; YORKSHIRE 22 points; Glamorgan 5 points

 

Essex v Yorkshire; 11-14 September; at Chelmsford

Yorkshire first innings: 312 [Lyth 67, Azeem Rafiq 53; Napier 5-65]

Essex first innings: 177 [ten Doeschate 62; Ashraf 4-62, Azeem Rafiq 3-65]

Yorkshire second innings: 252 for 8 declared [Azeem Rafiq 75*, McGrath 68, Lyth 51; Napier 4-54]

Essex second innings: 148 [Shah 71*; Azeem Rafiq 5-50, Patterson 4-34]

A total of nine wickets and two half centuries was a superb all-round display from Azeem Rafiq as his team got promoted.
