It was a case of deja vu as bottom of the group Yorkshire succumbed to high-flying Nottinghamshire. In spite of winning the toss again, the visitors quickly assumed their role of lambs to the slaughter. Opting to bat first, the Tykes cobbled together an unremarkable 132. Nottinghamshire made light work of their target, with the highly-rated opener Alex Hales feasting on more wayward Yorkshire bowling.
Richard Pyrah is one Yorkshireman who emerged with credit as he hit an admirable forty-two runs, took two catches, and bowled relatively tidily. The same cannot be said of Iain Wardlaw whose bowling has been a complete liability in limited overs cricket this summer. Today he conceded an embarrassing twenty-two runs from a mere seven deliveries! I guess that in mitigation he is on the proverbial 'learning curve'.
Congratulations to Nottinghamshire on qualifying for the competition's quarter-finals. As for Yorkshire, their final fixture against Leicestershire cannot come quick enough.
