Yorkshire's second eleven have started their 2014 campaign with nul points after they lost at Glamorgan in their opening Second Eleven Trophy encounter.
The hosts won the toss and elected to field. The Tykes could only muster a mediocre 164, failing miserably to bat their full fifty-overs allocation. Nobody on either team managed to reach the half-century mark. In reply, Glamorgan got over the finishing line with a whopping 8.1 overs to spare. At least young Matthew Fisher bowled well, as did another teenage prodigy, Josh Shaw. A third teenager, Elliot Callis, weighed in with forty-six runs before his stint was terminated by a run out. Here's hoping that our second XI wannabes can improve upon this performance in subsequent contests, as they try and push themselves into contention for promotion to the county's elite team.
YORKSHIRE SECOND XI: 164 off 44.1 overs
Glamorgan second XI: 166 for 6 off 41.5 overs
Glamorgan second XI won by four wickets.
