Ballance Boosts Yorkshire

Match-winner

I don't think that Derbyshire are the strongest team on the county circuit, but you can only beat what is placed in front of you, and Yorkshire did precisely that, with the assistance of that plucky duo of Duckworth and Lewis. However, most encouraging of all was Gary Ballance's return to form. The England reject has now amassed one hundred runs two innings in the last 36 hours. I guess that England's loss is Yorkshire's gain.

In another rain-interrupted contest, the visitors were restricted to forty-two overs, while the hosts then had to chase down 197 runs off 29 overs, which proved a little too much, against a spirited Yorkshire attack. Next on the horizon for the away team is a trip to south London to do battle with old foes, Surrey.
