Red hot Adam Lyth was the hero for the second successive day, as he proceeded to smash a second ton in two days thereby recording his highest one day score. Hopefully he might just have earned himself a starting berth in our Twenty20 engagement on Friday night. Once more Alex Lees won the toss and yet again he could only muster a mediocre twenty runs. Kane Williamson meanwhile chipped in with forty runs before succumbing to an unfortunate run out. Peculiarly every player in the Yorkshire team reached double figures, except the two who didn't have to bat.
In the end, the hosts unbelievably caved in after a decent opening, and who would have believed that Adam Lyth would hit more runs than the whole Lancashire team combined?! Such in fact was the state of the red rose collapse that young Carver was able to plunder three wickets from three overs, including one with his first ball. Whilst the Lightning will be cringing with embarrassment at this almighty humiliation, for the Phoenix it doesn't get much better than this. Maybe the Tykes can master one-day cricket after all!
