A Predictably Promising Start?

Yorkshire Vikings' latest quest for elusive one-day silverware, alternatively known as a wild goose chase, typically got off to a flier. The Tykes have developed this tendency to peak in the group stages and not sustain their early brilliance into the knockout stages in recent years of most one-day campaigns. It's a depressingly recurring theme. Nevertheless, let's celebrate this victory and take it on its own merits. The hosts cooked up a very tasty total, courtesy of excellent knocks from Lythy and young Tattersall. Durham never really got close to the target, despite the worthy efforts of Ben Stokes. Jack Brooks was the unlikely hero, with ball in hand.
