Hilariously Shambolic

By Gary Watton

Well that was quite a little 24 hours, as the Yorkshire puddings got eaten on consecutive days by the birds of prey from Derbyshire. The latter are clearly no mugs and deserve much kudos, but if the underperforming Tykes are entertaining any serious hopes of one-day silverware, then they should not be losing twice in succession to the Falcons - especially after winning the toss each time too. Our bowling was inadequate and enabled them to notch a formidable total from the reduced seventeen overs. Then, the writing was on the wall when the hot and cold duo of Kohler-Cadmore and Lyth departed early. Truthfully, we look ill-equipped for this shortened format. Ballance and Williamson look distinctly uncomfortable in such circumstances, and after their predictably brief cameos, the innings descended into out and out farce, as the last six skittles were knocked over at a measly cost of eleven runs. One can only express one's heartfelt condolences to Derbyshire that they won't be able to play the Yorkshire puddings again in the group stages.
